Product FAQs
You need to know a bit about our RiRis before you buy. We get it—smart move. Below are the features of our luxurious hair extensions.
Yes! Our human hair extensions are made from high-quality Remy human hair—the highest-grade human hair you can get.
This means the hair is collected and processed in a way that keeps the cuticles intact and aligned, resulting in silky smooth tresses with minimal tangling.
Learn more in our guide to ‘What is Remy Human Hair?’, where we give you the full rundown.
We use snap clips in our clip-in hair extensions, which offer a secure grip with no slips and a discrete blend thanks to their small, flat design.
Our Deluxe hair extensions are made from top-quality synthetic fibres that mimic real human hair!
They’re softer, thicker, shinier, and longer-lasting—they’re our bestsellers for a reason.
With the proper care and storage, you’ll be pleased to know that your RiRis won’t mat or shed.
But again, for the girls in the back, you have to take good care of your extensions!
We recommend heading over to our Care Page, where you’ll find our recommendations and instructions on how to look after your extensions.
Care & Maintenance
Care and maintenance are super important when it comes to your RiRis. Their lives literally depend on it.
Okay, slightly dramatic, but it’s true. The better care you take of your RiRis, the longer they’ll last.
While it’s okay for human hair extensions to be washed with hair extension-safe shampoo and conditioner, washing your synthetics is a no-no.
Your synthetic hair extensions aren’t designed to withstand the effects of shampoo and conditioner, which can cause them to tangle and lose their shape.
Provided you store them properly, brush them regularly, and don’t use product on them, there shouldn’t be a need to wash your wefts.
Our Hair Extensions Hanger & Bag Combo includes a see-through zip-up storage bag with a opening at the top for the hair hanger to slide in and out of.
Simply open the wide-mouth hanger, and sandwich your extension weft. Then, zip up the bag and hang them away from direct sunlight or heat.
Oh, and p.s., always make sure your extensions are dry before you store them away.
We also have a super guide on ‘Where & How to Store Your Extensions’ which we recommend saving for a bit of light reading.
While using your regular hair brush is okay, it’s not the best choice for your extensions.
They require a gentle, soft brush that removes tangles easily without completely ripping through the hair. That’s why we recommend our Deluxe Hair Extension Brush—she's a real beaut.
With the proper protection, you can absolutely swim with your RiRi tapes installed, and you can read more about this in our blog post about taking your hair extensions on holiday.
Clip-in hair extensions are another story, though. We strongly recommend you don’t swim with your clip-ins installed.
This is just an invitation to tangling, matting, and natural hair pulling.
While it is okay to sleep in semi-permanent hair extensions, like tape-ins, you categorically cannot sleep in your RiRi clip-ins.
That might sound slightly dramatic, but it actually isn’t. Sleeping in your hair extensions won’t only cause insane matting and tangling in your extensions, but in your natural hair, too.
We recommend taking your hair extensions out before going to bed and storing them properly using our Hanger & Bag.
Styling
When you get your brand new extensions, the first thing you’ll want to do is experiment with different styles and looks, and can we blame you? Definitely not.
But there are some things you need to know before letting loose with your RiRis.
While human hair extensions, like our tape-ins and selection of real clip-ins, can be heat-styled at a low temperature with the proper heat protectant and care applied, we can’t say the same for synthetic hair.
Synthetic hair extensions can’t handle the heat, and you should never go near them with a straightener, hairdryer, or curling wand. Seriously.
That’s literally no problem for you synthetic girlies, though, because all our hair extensions come pre-styled! Choose from straight, curly, and wavy hairstyles to suit your vibe.
It’s not fully recommended, but you can dye your human RiRi hair extensions if you really want to.
We’d recommend going to a professional stylist for this, though, as you don’t want to ruin your expensive extensions.
It would be better to shop for hair extensions that match your hair colour, and if you dye your natural hair, we’d recommend re-buying your extensions in your new colour. We have an excellent colour match service that’s totally free, so take advantage of it!
As for synthetic hair extensions, it’s a firm no.
Synthetics can’t handle the chemicals in the dye, and they’ll just deteriorate. It’s just not worth it.
Luckily for you ladies, our synthetic hair extensions come in over 30 shades, so you will find your perfect match.
This depends on the type of RiRis you have because there are different application methods for each.
For example, a claw clip ponytail simply clips on like a regular claw clip, but the Messy Bun Scrunchie is tied into your natural hair like a hair bobble.
For a full breakdown (and videos) of how to install each RiRi hair extension, please go to our Tutorials Page!
Tape-in extensions, on the other hand, will need to be applied by a professional hairstylist. So, if you choose this type of extension, be sure to book in with our girls at Lakeside!
You don’t have to, but your look would blend better and be more defined if you did.
If you have curly hair extensions but your hair is straight, to add to the volume, you could try curling your natural hair first—using a heatless method, of course.
The bottom line is that if you have a different style of hair extensions than your natural hair, styling your natural locks can help with seamless blending.
Of course!
Clip-in hair extensions, ponytail extensions, and tape-in hair extensions can all be used to create gorg updos. You just have to make sure the clips aren’t on show, or the secret will be out.
We have plenty of updo inspo, and how-to’s over on our blog, so if you’re looking for quick and easy hairstyles, celeb hairstyles, or braided hairstyles, we’ve got you covered.
For clip-in hair extensions, we recommend your hair is at least 4 inches long, and for tape-ins, 3-4 inches long.
You might have heard your hair needs to be much longer than this, but thankfully, besties, that’s not the case.
If you’re looking for a real middle ground, we recommend our 20” hair extensions, aka, our most popular length, or our 18” hair.
This stunning length isn’t so short that you won’t make an impact, but it’s also not too long, which isn’t to some people's tastes.
It’s easy to style, blends easily, and has a natural look.
Colour Matching
Colour matching is one of the most important things to get right with hair extensions, which is why we don’t take it lightly here at RiRi.
We’re always here to help you find your perfect match.
We have a totally free colour match service, where we’ll pick a shade for you based on the picture you send us.
We just ask that the picture be taken in good, natural light to fully show your natural hair colour. This will help us choose the best shade for you.
Then, send us the photo on Instagram, WhatsApp, or Messenger, and we’ll review your photo and get back to you with our colour recommendation.
We’ll look at things like any highlights or lowlights, as well as the tone and depth of your hair colour, then determine which shade is the best match for you.
We aim to respond to all of your requests as quickly as possible! Our service is open daily between 10 am and 10 pm, so be sure to contact us within that time to get the fastest response.
If you do order the wrong colour, you should return your extensions within 14 days, with the label still attached to the hair, unused.
To avoid ordering the wrong shade, read our tips on colour matching, or use our free colour match.
If your hair extensions no longer match your natural hair, we recommend ordering yourself some fresh new ones.
Dying your synthetic hair extensions will completely ruin them, and you’ll have to purchase new ones anyway.
It’s best to cut out the faff and buy new ones as your first port of call.
